Canon RF 28-70mm f/2.8 IS STM Lens – RF Mount

An Everyday Zoom Lens for Content Creators

The Canon RF 28-70mm f/2.8 IS STM Lens is designed for photographers and videographers who want one versatile optic that can handle landscapes, portraits, and everything between. Its 28-70mm focal range covers wide-angle scenes through short telephoto framing, making it a natural fit for everyday shooting on Canon RF-mount mirrorless cameras.

Whether you're documenting travel, shooting events, or building video content, this lens delivers professional-grade results without forcing you to carry multiple primes.

Fast f/2.8 Aperture in a Compact Form

Unlike similarly sized lenses that settle for a variable or f/4 aperture, this lens keeps a constant f/2.8 maximum aperture throughout the zoom range. That means better low-light performance and smoother, more pleasing background blur for portraits.

Canon achieved this fast aperture while keeping the lens notably smaller and lighter than its L-series sibling, partly thanks to a collapsible design that shrinks the barrel when not in use.

L-Series Quality Optics

Canon engineered this lens to match the optical performance of its renowned L-series lineup. Two Ultra-low Dispersion (UD) elements sit at the front of the optical path to correct chromatic aberration, while two glass-molded aspherical elements suppress distortion and help keep the lens compact.

A Super Spectra Coating (SSC) further reduces flare and ghosting, preserving contrast and color accuracy even when shooting into bright or backlit scenes.

Fast STM Autofocus and Built-In Stabilization

A stepping motor (STM) autofocus system delivers quick, quiet, and smooth focus transitions, ideal for both stills and video work. Combined with Optical Image Stabilizer (IS), handheld shooting stays sharp even in dimmer conditions or at longer focal lengths.

Compatibility and What's Included

This lens is built for the Canon RF mount and pairs directly with Canon EOS R-series mirrorless cameras, no adapter required. Each lens ships ready to mount, letting you start shooting right out of the box with front and rear caps included.

A Trusted Everyday Optic

Backed by Canon's reputation for optical excellence, the RF 28-70mm f/2.8 IS STM Lens offers L-series-level image quality at a more accessible price and size. It's a smart, versatile investment for photographers who want one lens that does it all—reliably and beautifully.
